JEM-PRECIOUS STONES
(Issue #18 -- The Bridegroom Is Coming -- June 2004)

Can you feel it? The days are dwindling -- even the hours pass more quickly! The world is "ready" for His return -- ripe with the end-time prophesies spoken of in The Word! It won't be long until He finally returns! It won't be long before we are with Him forever!

Make use of every moment we have left! Be ready -- and show others how to get ready! That trumpet is about to sound; The arch Angel is about to shout! It's almost midnight -- and The Bridegroom is Coming!

In His Service,
Matt

BIRTHDAY GREETING

Happy Birthday to all who celebrate that blessed day in June. Lord, we pray that You will reveal Yourself in mighty ways to each of these children of Yours. Draw them closer to You. Give them an unquenchable hunger and thirst for Your Word. May they shine Your light throughout their days. Amen.

INSPIRATIONAL THOUGHT
By: Gwen Tweedy

Jesus is the ROCK!

Jesus is the Rock, that does not roll,
Jesus is the Rock, that saved my very soul!
Jesus is the Rock, upon Him I shall stand,
Jesus is the Rock, I'm in His mighty hand!
Jesus is the Rock, I need not be distressed,
Jesus is the Rock, in Him and through Him I am always blessed!
Jesus is the Rock, I need not ever hide,
For in the shelter of His loving wings,
I am safe and can always abide!

POINTS TO PONDER
By: Gwen Tweedy

Most of us are blessed to go to a table each day and take our fill of food for our bodies. This food gives us energy and makes and keeps us strong and healthy -- but what about the filling from God's table?

Jesus is the Bread of Life, and we too need to be filled each day with His nourishment and sustenance for living in and through Him the way He wants us to. As we fill our old earthly bodies with food when we are hungry, are we mindful also of the filling we need from Jesus above?

There are loads of things on His daily menu: Prayer is great for starters. A good helping of praise always does the trick -- and a good sized portion of thankfulness goes a long way. Then there is His Word, His love letters to us, filling us with wisdom to face whatever comes our way. Then we can round out the meal by blessing others -- you always have room on your plate for this!

And for dessert? more blessing and praise for who Jesus IS and for what He has done for us and others in and around our lives. At the end of the meal, we will find that His guidance is the sweet fragrance that draws us toward our All Mighty God and helps us to to bring others and still others, to Jesus precious side: so that no one shall ever be lost or alone again!

QUOTE OF THE MONTH

It is contrary to reason for a thirsty person to turn from a pure, sparkling mountain stream to quench his thirst at a stale, putrid cistern -- yet that is what the human race does when it rejects God's truth and standards in favor of the devil's impure philosophies.

WAITING FOR THE BRIDEGROOM
By: Kimberly Lewis

I recently read a Christian romance novel in which one of the main characters was getting married. In the wedding ceremony, with church lights dimmed low, the bride comes out of a side room holding a lamp to light her way. She is looking for her groom. After a moment or two of looking, she finally sees him walking down the isle towards her.

After reading this, I thought to myself how romantic that was. I even looked over to my husband and said, If I ever get married again, I want a wedding like this. Of course, he looked at me with a strange look on his face, and with his relaxed manner of speaking, said, Oh really? I hastily added, I mean if we ever decide to renew our vows, that is. We both had a chuckle and went back to our reading after I removed my foot from my mouth.

But I still kept thinking about that book passage. I kept thinking about the romance involved in that passage. There is so much depth about this parable; so much meaning regarding the wise and foolish maidens. Scores of sermons have been delivered on this topic I am sure. But one thing remains, be watchful for the coming of the bridegroom.

Jesus is that bridegroom. Someday HE will return. We need to keep vigilant, keep watch, stay on guard. While everyday things need to be taken care of, like feeding the family, taking care of children, running errands, mowing the lawn, and so on, we still need to be watchful. We need to keep our focus on the coming bridegroom.

Let us not be like the foolish maidens who ran out of oil and had to leave and go buy more. Let us be prepared with our oil so that we will never run out and we will be standing ready when Christ comes again.

A MOMENT OF 'HA HA'

Where does the family start? It starts with a young man falling in love with a girl - no superior alternative has yet been found.

CHALLENGE OF THE MONTH

We really should be getting into Gods word, as much as we possibly can. We would like to encourage you with a challenge each month, to memorize a portion of Scripture. So, we will provide a passage, and hope that you will take the time to study it daily. If you are already doing this on your own, that is great--we just thought with prayer, and making it a bit easier for some folks, that we could help those who may not be doing this yet. All passages will be from the King James Version of the Bible. We do not mind other versions, and you can study it in whichever version you like. We have chosen KJV, because it is public domain. We pray that you will hide His word in your heart.

Revelation 19
6 And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.
7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.
8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

RECIPE OF THE MONTH
Submitted by: Barbara Lea Campbell

This is a very easy recipe and is not too high in calories or fat.

Take a box of angel food cake mix. Pour into a bowl. Add 1 large (20 oz.) can of crushed pineapple (in its own juice) into the mix. Do not drain the pineapple -- pour in the fruit and all the juice. Mix together. That's it! Now pour into an ungreased pan. You can use a tube pan, like a traditional Angel food cake, or a 13 x 9 x 2 pan or 2 loaf pans. Bake as directed on cake mix box. Serve with Cool Whip.

QUICK TIP OF THE MONTH
Submitted by: Joyce Haun

If you have baked cookies and they come out a little hard, take a slice of bread and put it in a container with the cookies. After a few hours they are softer and after a day they are good and soft, and you won't have to throw that batch out because they were too hard to eat. :o)

CRAFT OF THE MONTH

WEDDING INVITATION TRACT

I thought it would be fun to encourage each of us to make our own witnessing tracts. There are so many tracts we could buy, and that is fine..there are a lot of great ones out there...but let's see how creative we can get with making our own.

With all the computer technology, and all of that, we could add Scripture verses, clip art, or make our own graphics...and write our own poems or catchy phrase--the possibilities are endless.

Since we are talking about the coming of our Bridegroom, Jesus..I thought it might be a good idea to see what kind of WEDDING INVITATION TRACT we could come up with. You could include the ROMAN ROAD TO SALVATION or whatever Scriptures the Lord brings to your mind. Be creative, and as always, have fun! You never know when you might be the next person to come up with a unique and inviting tract!

***If you have an original recipe, quick tip, or craft, that you would like to share with us, please send it in with your first and last name, and your email address to Precious_Stones@JEMMinistries.org. If we use it, you will get full credit, but please know that due to the number of contributions, and other concerns, we will not be able to use all submissions.***

SKIPPING STONES
(A word of encouragement)
By: Barbara Lea Campbell

"Going to the Chapel and we're gonna get married...."

It's that time of year! Wedding marches fill the air! Can't you smell the flowers... taste the cake... hear the music? What a wonderful magical day a Wedding Day is... when 2 lives meld together into one unity.

And the Bride.. it really is her day. All dressed in the finest array ... her face beaming with joy ... all eyes are fixed on her. Especially her groom! He looks at her with a love that transcends every other. She is.. at that moment and forever... the most beautiful woman he has ever seen. She takes His breath away. And she... well, she is overwhelmed by his looks.... the message of love his eyes send.

Can't you just see it? Don't you just love a wedding?

Well, one day you will be part of the grandest wedding ever -- the wedding to, literally, end all weddings! The wedding of the Bride of Christ (the church -- that's us!) and the Bridegroom (Jesus). Can you even begin to imagine it? The Bible tells us we will be dressed in white linen... that sparkles clean and bright. I believe the flowers there are more beautiful than any we have ever beheld and the food at the feast something our mouths have never dreamed of!

The Wedding is coming... no one will get cold feet... there will be no problems to delay this event ... it will occur.. right on time... just as He planned!

So what do we, the Bride, do in the meantime? Get ready! Just as a Bride prepares for her wedding day, we should do the same... prepare for ours. Let's set our hearts right.... seek to be pure and spotless... blameless before our Groom. Anticipate the wedding... let that anticipation fill you with anxious joy!

"the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage" Matthew 25:10

BIBLE QUIZ

In this section, you will find five questions each month, along with the Scripture reference (unless of course, the question is asking where you can find something in the Bible). We pray this will help you to get to know Gods Word more.

2. Abraham wanted Isaac to marry someone who was in his family line. His chief servant went to find such a girl. Website of the Month: Zola Levitt Ministries
Recommended by: Denise Imbody

Zola Levitt Ministries: http://www.zolalevitt.com/

Zola Levitt is a Messianic Jew. He is a great teacher, and is very informative. I encourage you to check out his website if you have never heard of him before, or even if you have.

On his site you can review teachings on several different topics. He does a great teaching on the different feasts that are found throughout the Bible, and how they go along with prophecy that has been fulfilled, and what is yet to be fulfilled.

He says the feast that is to be fulfilled next, is THE FEAST OF TRUMPETS. Of course this refers to the rapture.

He has a teaching on the wedding feast, and what all the cups of the Passover mean. I can't say enough about him, or his teachings. I just hope you will take the time to check out his site. Oh, and you can even watch some of his episodes on the site itself.

Movie of the Month: Miracle
Recommended by: Barbara Lea Campbell

Miracle is one of the latest Disney films and, in the same vein as Remember the Titans, is a movie about overcoming impossible odds. This is a good family picture -- for older elementary and up children. There is some language -- mostly what reviewers would call "mild" expletives. We have TV Guardian and it filtered it all out. Most of the language seems to occur early in the movie and then it cleans up.

This is the story of the 1980 US Olympic Hockey Team -- when we ... very much the underdogs ... beat the USSR and went on to receive the Gold Medal. You do NOT have to be a hockey fan to enjoy this movie. I know very little about Hockey and am not a huge sports fan, but still thoroughly enjoyed Miracle.

The story has more to do with representing our country ... letting go of grudges and preconceived notions and coming together as a team.... and of the little guy actually doing what "they" say cannot be done.

JEM'S PUZZLER OF THE MONTH

In this section you might find a word search, An unscramble the words, OR any kind of word puzzle. We hope you will have fun with it!

Who Am I?

1) Greetings! Good to see you here in Jerusalem. Although I was a Pharisee, a man of learning, I was lost spiritually. I thought I was serving God by hating Jesus and His followers. But then I saw the light. I am _______________.

2) God asked me to do something I didn't want to do, so I ran away. I hoped I would be lost and God would not be able to find me. Instead, He placed me in a solitary place in the depths of the sea. My heart was changed and I obeyed the Lord. I am _______________.

3) Shalom. The Bible records my victories in battle, my mercy to my greatest earthly enemy, my greatness, my failures and my great love for Jehovah. I was a man of God, but allowed my desire for a beautiful woman to lead me into immense sin. For a time I strayed off of God's righteous path, but I returned to Him and walked with Him the remainder of my days. I am _______________.

4) Jesus called my brother and I to follow Him and I became one of His faithful disciples. Yet even I failed Him. On the night of His arrest, I denied I even knew the man. After I repented, I became an even stronger follower and was instrumental in building the early Christian church. I am _______________.

5) I was a lost woman living in a city that professed the Lord. I was the first person Paul converted in the region where I lived. I was so grateful to Paul for sharing the gospel with me that I offered to help him and his missionary friend. I am _______________.
